Challenge VII: dysFUNctional
The Wood Turning Center has a series of exhibitions which “challenge” artists in the wood turning field to explore new areas and extend their work. For the Challenge VII exhibition the artists explore the concepts of function and dysfunction.
The artists’ work is very witty and playful with a sense of exploration and surprise. The exhibition design creates an environment with the same sense of exploration and pushes the boundaries of dysfunction as far as possible without irritating the viewer. The visitor experiences a sense of discovery and surprise around every corner helping to accentuate the experience of the artists’ work. The angled pedistals and walls also help to create a sense of uneasiness associated with the dysfunction they are experiencing in the works on display.
