Crisis of Modernism: The Post-Minimal Rebellion
Crisis of Modernism: The Post-Minimal Rebellion is an exhibition that presents work showing the struggle artists were having with the Minimalist movement and the title wall needed to capture the essence of what the artists were doing to move out of that movement.
The white vinyl lettering on the white wall represents the minimalism that the post-minimalists were rebelling against. The second line is the rebellion.
Instead of using traditional means of applying the lettering, a power sanding tool was used to create the shapes of the letters—exposing the multiple layers of paint below.
